Account holdings are sometimes discovered from custodian data with missing cost basis information. This occurs most often when shares are transferred within accounts (ex. share conversions, spin-offs and corporate actions) and between accounts (ex. ACAT transfers). Custodian data will represent the transfer as a transaction before the cost basis information is made available via cost basis files. In these cases Atlas will represent the security holding as missing cost basis on an Appraisals Report.

Our team works to ensure that you have all the information you need to have productive client conversations about their portfolios and financial goals. If cost basis is missing on an Appraisals report there are still options.

  1. Use the Holdings Report to present a simplified version of the Appraisals Report to have conversations about the positions that make up client portfolios.

  2. Use the Data Management Missing Cost Basis tool to identify and add missing cost basis information directly within Atlas.
