Understanding the numbers in the Asset Allocation report, why the calculations were chosen, and how to use the report with clients.

This report shows the overall account or household allocation broken down by asset classes based off of the system defaults or custom asset classifications you have configured. For more help setting up custom asset classifications, check out this article.

What is included in the number you are looking at? (calculations, source, etc.)

This report includes two parts - an overall asset allocation that can be customized as well as the top ten holdings by market value. 

Why have we chosen to include and/or calculate the number the way we do?

This is a quick and easy way to get a high level view of a portfolio. In future iterations we will include a target vs actual allocation report. 

How can this report be used in a client review to help boost your clients' confidence, increase transparency, and answer questions?

This report is particularly useful to show clients their investment strategy and top holdings. Consider the following tips and best practices to leverage this report in your client reviews:

  • To confirm the current asset allocation aligns with the client's risk profile and goals outlined in their financial plan 

  • To answer the question, "How am I invested?" or "What am I invested in?"

  • Determine if the portfolio needs to be rebalanced

  • Reinforce your client narrative or support conversations around the importance of diversification with your clients

  • Demonstrate continued value and transparency around your work monitoring and managing clients overall asset allocation and portfolio diversification
